Q&A: Caddie Steve Williams

Writing at PGATour.com, Brian Wacker shares his exclusive interview with Tour caddie extraordinaire, Steve Williams, “quite simply the best in the business.” He is best known for his work with four superstars, Greg Norman, Ray Floyd, Tiger Woods and currently Adam Scott.

In this “let your hair down interview,” Williams shares the story of how he got into golf as a boy in New Zealand…and then into caddying…and then professional caddying…and then International caddying in London…and all by the age of 16…with the $20,000 of his own money he had saved.

In this wide ranging interview, Williams speaks of his working relationships with each of those four big names and how he came to get each job. Interestingly, he says that his work with Tiger was tremendous because of Tiger’s discipline.

You can read the whole thing here: “Q&A: Caddie Steve Williams.” Be sure to also follow the link to the sidebar story right under Wacker’s picture. It’s former Aussie European Tour player, Michael Clayton’s recollections of William’s work. Good stories in each piece.
