Writing at Golf Week, Jim McCabe has the first three days’ tee times for the Tour pros in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. There are two pros in each pairing and they stay together for the first three rounds. Each of them will be paired with the same amateur for the first three days and, whether they make the cut or not, if the pro-am team makes the cut, the pro will be playing with the amateur on Sunday.
Each team rotates to each of the three tournament courses: Pebble Beach, Monterey Peninsula and Spyglass Hill.
McCabe also has some highlights of some of the pro-am pairings. As is customary, they are from the worlds of acting, music, politics and business. Many are household names and to whom they get paired is sometimes poetically perfect (e.g., Wayne Gretzky and his future son-in-law, Dustin Johnson). For those of us in the Scottsdale area, Whisper Rock Golf Club owner, Greg Tryhus, is paired with Whisper Rock member, Geoff Ogilvy. Tryhus has created a 36-hole sanctuary (Fazio/Mickelson) for Tour pros where they can get some serious work done and play with each other.
